‘Kill car’ accused boasted about daycare hit pay day, police allege

A teenager accused of staging “kill cars” set to be used in a planned underworld hit at a Revesby daycare centre allegedly boasted to his girlfriend about earning $6,000 for his role in the plot.

Police will allege the woman told Ata Junior Misi during a secretly recorded phone call that her brothers were in jail for setting up cars for murders, to which Misi allegedly replied “sounds familiar”.

It is alleged he then joked about how much he was earning for a night of work, allegedly saying “6 grand one night someone loses a life”.

Police will allege Misi and his co-accused, Iese Esera, 21, were “contract criminals” hired to stage a network of vehicles across Sydney to help facilitate the brazen shooting murder of a man as he picked his child up from daycare.

It is alleged three men – Greall Tighe, 18, Kevin Mundine, 19, and Tyron Tuiluga Rio, 26 – were hired by a Vietnamese crime syndicate called ‘The Final Crime Family’ (TFCF) to take out the man following an internal feud in the gang.

Police foiled the alleged plot last Wednesday, bringing traffic to a dramatic halt on River Rd as they descended on two cars carrying Tighe, Mundine and Rio.

The trio was hauled to the ground and arrested, before being hit with charges of conspiracy to murder and participating in a criminal group.

The following day, police arrested Misi and Esera at a home in Oran Park, seizing a gun and ammunition from the rear of a vehicle Esers was last seen driving.

It is alleged the pair are members of a newly emerging crime syndicate called “G7”, who police allege are contracted to carry out dirty work for other criminal syndicates.

Both men were charged with participating in a criminal group and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime, and remanded in custody.

A third person – a 16-year-old boy – was also arrested and charged.

Esera made an unsuccessful application for bail in Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday.

Two distinctive tattoos – a large ‘G’ on one forearm and a ‘7’ on the other – could clearly be seen as he fronted court via video link from Parklea Correctional Centre.

Esera’s lawyer, Mohammad Wafai from Krayem and Co Lawyers, mounted a strong argument for his client’s release, saying the case against him was weak and would be significantly delayed due to the complexity of the proceedings.

He said Esera had a limited criminal record and strong support from his family, who would agree to watch him around the clock as part of a stringent home detention condition.

Prosecutors opposed Esera’s release due to the seriousness of the allegations.

Magistrate Lisa Graham refused bail, finding Esera had not demonstrated his ongoing detention was unjustified.

The court heard police seized seven “kill cars” during their investigation into the alleged murder plot, most of which were allegedly kitted out with everything needed to commit violent crimes, including gaffer tape, sledge hammers, baseball bats, pillow cases and gerry cans full of fuel.
